Voting
This blog is different from our family blog in that these are little pieces of our "everyday". Things that happen in our everyday life. Things that we do in our everyday routine. Things to remember, but they might not have made it into our scrapbooks...thus the Project Life/Project 365 approach. Hope you enjoy!

OH...and the word "Voting" below my header? Don't know what it is, nor how to remove it!

Not a great photo, but this is one of Max's most requested meals.  The boy loves a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich!

June 12, 2011

Emily and Max getting ready to make some Funfetti brownies together.

June 11, 2011

Emily's first cheer camp of the summer.  We were so happy that camp was hosted at our school this year.  Other schools from the area attended and everyone did a great job.

June 10, 2011

I admit it...I am addicted to scrapbooking and crafting in general.  One of my favorite places to shop is Hobby Lobby.  I check their ads every Sunday and then plan my shopping trip.

June 9, 2011

As soon as school was out, Emily started the pool parties.  This was a diverse group of her friends - so glad they all were able to attend.

June 8, 2011

Claire and other kids in her class, receiving awards for being on the honor roll.  Our baby will be heading to middle school this fall...sniff!

June 7, 2011

Randy was THRILLED to watch his beloved St. Louis Cardinals in action again Houston.  Randy just happened to be in Houston the night they played, and a friend got tickets for him.

June 6, 2011

Blurry pic.  :-(  Claire's school always has an international parade each year.  The kids dress in traditional clothing and walk around the school.  Claire was proud to wear her Chinese dress and carry the Chinese flag.

June 5, 2011

Major score!  I use breathe right strips every night under my CPAP mask (after I realized that one side of my nose collapses).  Found all of these half price!

June 4, 2011

Church youth group girls - attending a local baseball game together.

June 3, 2011

Wal-Mart stockholders meeting entertainment - Black Eyed Peas and Pia (from American Idol).

June 2, 2011

Emily received an invitation from school to attend the 8th grade awards presentation.  Only students who received an invitation attended the event, not the entire 8th grade.  Emily was honored to be chosen the top student in the student body for the English/Literacy award.  Her teacher told her she was the best student he had ever had in class.  She also received the President's Award for having all A's, as well as an award for scoring in the top percentile on the pre-ACT test (can't remember what it's called right now, and don't feel like looking it up).

June 1, 2011

Due to being in cheer, Emily continues to take a tumbling class to improve her back flip, back handspring, etc.  We moved to a new gymnastics school during the summer and she has been happy with the training she's getting.  (name blocked for privacy reasons of course)

May 31, 2011

Emily had to do a special project in her careers class.  She chose to make a display as if she were a professional photographer.  I was really impressed with her final project.  The reverse side of the "film strip" had all of the details about being a photographer.  As usual, the teacher asked to keep her project (so glad I got a pic of this project...the teacher kept many that I didn't get photos of).

May 30, 2011

Since we had the day off for Memorial Day, we took the kids fishing.  One of Emily's friends also came along.  Since we had too many people for the boat, we just fished from the fishing dock in BV.  We didn't catch enough to keep, but the kids all had a great time.

May 29, 2011

The strawberries at granny's house are finally ripe.  Max had the BEST time picking berries!  The only problem was that Max thought he was supposed to pick ALL the berries, no matter the color.  Max thought it was super cool that granny even let us take all the berries home with us!  :-)

May 28, 2011

My baby girl got her first sunburn today...ouch!  Will have to keep a closer eye on her to make sure this doesn't happen again.

May 27, 2011

Excess hair?  Not with Nair!  :-)   I have a love/hate affair with this product.  The girls and I use this microwaveable wax in-between professional waxing on our brows.  Sometimes, I do a pretty good job with it; other times, not so much.  :-(

May 26, 2011

Even though I don't have a green thumb, I *do* like to have nice plants around our pool area.  Today we just happened to find a great sale and stocked up on plants.

May 25, 2011

Another common site in our kitchen is this big mess.  :-)  When I have a cookie order, the mixer, the food colorings, and all other ingredients fill up the counter for a few hours.

May 24, 2011

We drink a lot of decaf tea in this house.  We also use a lot of Splenda.  This is a site we see often on our kitchen counter...a glass of tea with empty splenda packets beside it.

May 23, 2011

Claire made this little paper hat for Max.  It wouldn't stay on his (big) head, so Claire used hair clips to keep it on.

May 22, 2011

Our children's choir had their final performance today, and did a fantastic job.  The theme of the program was "PRAISE", so we had them decorate the letters they used on stage.  (The "s" might look a little funny - we had to square the bottom of it so it would fit in the stand on stage.)  Such a great group of kids.

May 21, 2011

My mom has the biggest green thumb that I know of.  The woman can make anything grow.  She always takes my dead plants and brings them back to life.  I love visiting mom in the summer and seeing all of her beautiful flowers.  This is a photo collage of just a few of her lovely blooms.

May 20, 2011

Another first for Max...riding a horse.  Our town had a special event downtown on the square and we needed to drop Emily & Allyson for a student council volunteer job.  Since we were in the area anyway, we decided to stay and enjoy some of the entertainment.  Max and Claire immediately spotted the little ponies and begged to ride.  Max thought his first ride was quite fun (Claire loved it too).

May 19, 2011

One of our family's favorite meals is BBQ pork sandwiches.  I got the recipe from an adoptive mom several years ago.  It's so simple and so tasty.

May 18, 2011

Claire went on a field trip, and came home with this lovely hog nose.  WoooooPigSooooooiiiiieeeeee!!

May 17, 2011

Not a great photo, but it's the only one I got...at least Allyson is in the photo (WAY to the left).
Near the end of the school year, several schools in the area get together for an orchestra concert called "Pops on the Lawn".  We enjoyed sitting on the lawn listening to the different orchestra levels.

May 16, 2011

When we go to a restaurant, the younger kids enjoy the coloring sheets...we enjoy the fact that it keeps little minds/hands busy while we wait.  On this date, Max was coloring at Jose's mexican restaurant.

May 15, 2011

The girls' annual piano recital was today, following church.  They all played a different piece than the one they played for the piano clinic.  We're proud of all 3 girls...great job!

May 14, 2011

This summer Allyson has finally grown enough (in size and maturity) that she gets to help mow the lawn.  She loves using the riding lawn mower.  We are glad to have the extra help.

May 13, 2011

Randy took a day of vacation and we headed for the lake.  This was Max's first fishing trip and he LOVED riding in the boat.  When we got a fish on the line, we let Max reel it in.  He wasn't quite sure about the fish, but he had a great time anyway.

May 12, 2011

This was Emily's final band concert as an 8th grader.  It was (sadly) also her final band concert...ever.   She just had too many activities for high school and had to drop something, so band was her choice (not mine).  Emily just seems to have a natural musical talent, so we were sad to see her flute go.  Truthfully though, Emily hadn't really enjoyed the past year in band as she has gained new interests in other areas of school.

May 11, 2011

We had several storms in the area lately, some that were quite scary (we were in the closet several times).  This is a pic of some of the hail we received.  We were thankful that the hail was small.

May 10, 2011

Allyson and Emily worked at the Samaritan Center with their school's student council.  The kids helped make up snack packets for less fortunate children in the area.  I think this kind of work is a great learning experience for the kids.

May 9, 2011

Two of my girlies...with towels on their heads after a shower.

May 8, 2011

Although I really dislike pics of myself, I do get in the shot occasionally.  This was our little photo shoot for Mother's Day.  Love these kiddos so much!

May 7, 2011

All three of our girls participated in a local piano clinic.  They played one piece and then sat quietly while other students from the area played, and then 2 independent judges marked their performance.  We were so proud that all 3 girls earned a superior rating and a blue ribbon.  Way to go girls!!

May 6, 2011

Several families from our church attended family night at the Arkansas Naturals game.  We all had a great time.  Mom isn't in the picture because she was taking the photo (note to self:  next time have someone else take the family pic).

May 5, 2011

Claire's school puts on a play for each different age group.  The fourth grade play was 101 Dalmations.  Claire had the part of a scotty dog, complete with a cute little kilt.

May 4, 2011

Today was "pool opening" day.   When the pool cover is first removed, the water isn't very inviting...looks a little like a muddy pond.  A few hours later though, the pool became clear enough to swim in, but was way too cold.

May 3, 2011

Max LOVED helping dad wash the boat and car!

May 2, 2011

After 3 days of tryouts, Emily finally learned she made the freshman cheer squad at school.  She was one excited girl!

May 1, 2011

Max enjoyed playing with some of his birthday gifts...a dress-up chest shield and hat.
