Voting
This blog is different from our family blog in that these are little pieces of our "everyday". Things that happen in our everyday life. Things that we do in our everyday routine. Things to remember, but they might not have made it into our scrapbooks...thus the Project Life/Project 365 approach. Hope you enjoy!

OH...and the word "Voting" below my header? Don't know what it is, nor how to remove it!

April 30, 2011

All of the kids in Claire's class were given a small pine tree to plant.  Claire was SO excited to have her own tree, so we helped her plant it in the backyard.  Unfortunately, the little tree didn't make it.  :-(

April 29, 2011

After a week of try-outs, Emily was excited to learn that she made the cheer team for high school this fall!  She received one of her uniforms right away, so we took a few pics.  Go Tigers!

April 28, 2011

Max and his cousin, John Andrew.  The boys are 2 years apart in age.  We don't see JA and his parents often, so as soon as the boys sat down together, I snapped this pic.

April 27, 2011

Allyson wanted to take some treats to her friends at school.  She baked and decorated chocolate cupcakes all by herself.

April 26, 2011

Claire's school had a crazy hair day fundraiser.  We remembered this at the last minute, so Claire just wore lots of pigtails, bows and ties.  I thought she looked adorable.

April 25, 2011

The cheer team had an end of the year party, so our contribution was cookies (of course).  I made a large cookie with the school mascot logo, and then a megaphone with each of the girls names on them.

April 24, 2011

After church on Easter morning, we went to granny's house.  I had picked up a few of the cute little bunny ears and decided to take a quick family photo.  This will be one of our 6 people 12 times shots.

April 23, 2011

The kids and their Easter goodies.  We didn't do traditional Easter baskets this year...but it seems candy is always a requirement...and we couldn't leave out the peeps!

April 22, 2011

Pencil shaped cookies for Claire's class.  The cookies were a treat to celebrate the end of testing week.

April 21, 2011

Emily made dinner for the family tonight.  Homemade lasagna...yummm!

April 20, 2011

Claire was trying to study, but her little brother kept bugging her.  Later, I found Claire "hiding" in the dining room.   This is one way to study!

April 19, 2011

One night each week, I take Em to a tumbling class so she can continue to build her skills for cheer.

April 18, 2011

This was Max's second dental visit.  He was so excited to go to the dentist, and remembered exactly what to do.  He also knew he would get a new toothbrush, a bouncy ball, and some stickers (the last of which had to immediately go onto his shirt).  :-)

April 17, 2011

More cookies.  Our family friend, Kate, told her mom she wanted some of my cookies for her birthday, so this was my gift to her.

April 16, 2011

One of Max's toy creations.  I love how he always has his toys all lined up.  Today, he put the toys around the edge of our circle shaped coffee table.

April 15, 2011

Allyson's absolute favorite food is pasta...any type/shape of pasta!

April 14, 2011

One of Emily's sandwich choices...a fried hot dog with cheese...and lots of ketchup.

April 13, 2011

I drink 2-3 cups of decaf coffee every day.  Mr. Max thinks it's HIS job to turn the coffee pot on each day, so I always wait to let him turn it on.  I love hearing, "Can I push the button?" every morning.

April 12, 2011

School lunch bags...what I usually see every morning during the school year.  Emily is a super-picky eater so she takes her lunch EVERY day.  Allyson isn't as picky, but she doesn't want to spend the time waiting in the long lunch line.  Claire is about half&half...she likes a lot of the school's choices, but sometimes prefers taking her own lunch.

April 11, 2011

The new thing around here is skpe.  Emily apparently doesn't see her friends enough during the school day, so she feels the need to see/talk to them all night.  A little, inexpensive camera and a free skype account does the trick.  I'm thinking we'll use this on our next trip to China as well.

April 10, 2011

Claire has NEVER liked taking naps, so this is a rare sight indeed.  Today, she was just exhausted and didn't want to give in to rest.  She came into the office to talk to me...the next thing I know, she's asleep in the chair.

April 9, 2011

I've spent more time than usual at my dad's quilt shop lately, taking photos for their web site.  Max enjoys going with me...and usually requests to get in at least one photo.

April 8, 2011

More cookie fun.  This time I played with several different patterns.  I went to a scrapbooking crop at church, and this tray of cookies was my food treat for the day.

April 7, 2011

Our dog, Jazzy, absolutely LOVES it when Claire comes home from school.   Jazzy runs to Claire and rolls over to have her tummy scratched.  Jazzy apparently enjoys music as well.  I often find her curled up on the piano bench when Claire is doing her piano practice.

April 6, 2011

Another trampoline pic...just didn't have another photo for today.  It was a beautiful day, so Claire and Max went outside after school.  A little while later, I heard lots of laughter in the back yard.  I found Claire, Max and the neighbor friend playing "crack the egg" on the trampoline.

April 5, 2011

A simple request - asking Max to put on his pj's.   A few minutes later, Max comes in and tells me he can't reach his pants because they are on the door.  Knowing full well that his pj's are on the bed, I ask Max again to put his pj's on.  His reply, "They're up too high on the door."   As I walk to the bedroom, I see exactly what he means.  Yes, the pj's ARE up on top of the door.  It seems Max has been playing a game of throwing his clothes into the air!

April 4, 2011

My daughter, Allyson, and I really like fruit pies.  We have found that the little baked pies at McDonald's are pretty tasty.  (I know - we're horrible.)   We sometimes order the pies and take them home to eat later.  When I opened the refrigerator this morning, this sign was posted as a warning to everyone in the family...this pie belonged to Allyson!

April 3, 2011

We usually go out for lunch after church on Sundays.  Today's choice was the Acambaro Mexican Restaurant.  Our family LOVES salsa, so this is always a good choice.

April 2, 2011

While we worked on cleaning out the garage, the kids found more pleasant things to do.  This is how I found them...playing ring-around-the-rosey on the trampoline.  It's a rare sight to see all 4 kids playing together, so I had to snap a photo.

April 1, 2011

Another lucky day at the company store!  We had planned to organize our detached garage over the weekend, and were thrilled to find all of these storage tubs on sale at the store.  Perfect timing!

March 31, 2011

This is a view I see quite often...Randy leaving the airport terminal.  If Randy has a business trip, I am his pick-up person.  :-)

March 30, 2011

I love it when the kids bring artwork home from school.  Sadly, this doesn't happen often as schools just don't promote art much anymore.  Today was a good day though.  Claire brought home this cute drawing of toucans.

March 29, 2011

I have always loved my mom's cornbread...it's always thicker and tastier than any other I've tried.  When I got married, I asked mom for the recipe, but it was one of those "a little of this, and a smidgen of that" kind of recipes that I couldn't get quite right.  I am proud to say that I finally perfected the recipe several years ago, and get the best cornbread every time I make it.  My kids don't love cornbread, but I'm going to pass down "my" recipe to them anyway.  :-)

2 c. white cornbread mix (a scant removed, and replaced with all-purpose flour)
1 egg, beaten
1-1/2 c. milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.  Pour about 3 tablespoons of oil into 8x8 baking pan (swirl it around to coat the edges and side of pan) and heat in oven for a few minutes (while mixing other ingredients).  Mix together the cornbread/flour mix, egg and milk.  Carefully pour in the hot oil (from the baking pan) into the bread mixture and mix well.  Pour mixture back into the hot baking pan.  Bake for 25 minutes.  Cut into squares and slather your square with a tub o' butter!  :-) Yum!

March 28, 2011

Spring time in Arkansas means the weather can be warm one day, and cold the next.  This makes it really hard to know how to dress each day.  As the girls were getting ready to leave for school this morning, I noticed the big differences in what they were wearing.  One in Ugg boots - the other in sandals.  So fitting for this time of year.  :-)

March 27, 2011

When we returned home from spring break, Claire had to do a timeline project for school.  The other kids did the project in class, but we were traveling those days....so homework on a Sunday it was for us.

March 26, 2011

Ally and Claire - packed into the back seat and ready to go!  We are lucky that our kids are great travelers.

March 25, 2011

The Embassy Suites in Dallas had two resident swans (Barron and Queen).  Every time we went to the lobby, the kids had to say 'hello' to the swans.  On our final day at the hotel, the breakfast chef gave the kids a plate of lettuce to feed the swans.

March 24, 2011

After much searching, we finally found a Mongolian grill restaurant in Dallas.  We had eaten at a really good place when visiting friends a year ago.  The friends have moved and weren't around to direct us, so we found the Genghis Grill on our own.  It was pretty good, but a little chaotic (considering we have to help at least 2 younger kids get their meal).  It's one of those places where you load your plate full of raw meats and veggies and the chef's cook it on a giant stone.  All in all, a neat experience.

March 23, 2011

Pappasito's is one of Randy's favorite restaurants, so we HAD to eat there during spring break.  The most memorable thing about our meal wasn't the food though...it was the ginormous stain on the back of Max's shirt.  The waiter accidentally poured bean juice down Max's back as he was serving us!  :-)

March 22, 2011

We made quite a haul at the outlet stores in Dallas.  This was a few of our bags from one days.  My Emily is quite the shopper...the other kids not so much.

March 21, 2011

Dinner at the Rainforest Cafe.  This was Max's first time at the restaurant...he loved all of the animals.

March 20, 2011

It takes a lot of luggage when the six of us go on a trip!  We try to pack everything in as little luggage as possible, but it still takes up space.  This was the back of our SUV as we left on our spring break trip to TX.  I don't think we did too bad...3 suitcases for 6 people for 1 entire week.

March 19, 2011

One of the perks of Randy's job is shopping at the company store.  We went this morning and hit the jackpot in food items (we're not usually lucky enough to find anything other than household goods).

March 18, 2011

I had the final part of my healthy heart testing done today...a CT scan of my heart & arteries.  I received all of the results from the tests and everything looks good (just need to work on lowering my cholesterol).  So thankful I did all of the testing...$100 was worth the peace of mind (considering our family history).  Just wish I had thought to buy this set of tests for my dad - would have been a great gift.

March 17, 2011

Lemon flavored cookies for St. Patrick's day.  Just having fun playing with different flavors and shapes.

March 16, 2011

Love this pic of Max's shoes!  He likes to put his shoes on all by himself.  He was outside playing and I noticed that his shoes were on the wrong feet.  Must not have bothered him as he had worn them nearly all day like this.  :-)

March 15, 2011

Yet another evening of CAP conferences...this time for our middle daughter, Allyson.  She elected all pre-AP classes (except math...which is frustrating to her since she's very good in math...school decision).   She will also continue with orchestra next year (yay!)

March 14, 2011

Cookies for Claire's school choir.  They had an after-school party to celebrate their final concert.  These cookies were our treats.

March 13, 2011

I like to give the kids in our church children's choir a treat every now and then.  I knew we wouldn't see them on St. Patrick's day, so I made up these little bags on Sunday.  I just printed off my own topper and filled the bags with Lucky Charms (of course!).  These were a hit with the kids.

March 12, 2011

I have grown to love McDonald's coffee.  I would drink it every day if I could.  Unfortunately, it's only a rare weekend treat though.  When I *do* get to have it, I order a large black cup of the stuff, and drink it as slowly as I can.  ;-)  Oh, looks like I might have had some sort of greasy breakfast with it on this day too huh? lol  Really...it's the coffee I truly love!  (no affiliation with McDonald's)
