Voting
This blog is different from our family blog in that these are little pieces of our "everyday". Things that happen in our everyday life. Things that we do in our everyday routine. Things to remember, but they might not have made it into our scrapbooks...thus the Project Life/Project 365 approach. Hope you enjoy!

OH...and the word "Voting" below my header? Don't know what it is, nor how to remove it!

We usually go buy groceries on Saturdays.  Wal-Mart is our usual stop.  This is just something we do every week and don't think much about it...but since it's part of our everyday life, I wanted to document it in pictures.

The kids have really enjoyed all of the snow, and time away from school.  They went out to play this afternoon for a couple of hours before piano practice.  Working together + a few empty buckets and trash cans = a really neat snow fort!

Emily is a cheerleader, and our neighbor is on the dance team.  I drive the girls to basketball games at least twice a week (sometimes more if we have make-up games).

We woke up today to a record-setting snowfall - an amazing 23"!  I read on the news that this broke a state record from the early 1900's...wow!  We measured several places in our yard, and the snow ranged between 20" and 23".

Every day when Claire gets off the bus, she and the two neighbor boys walk home together.  I just happened to snap the pic as one of the boys fell!  Before they made it home, all three kids had a spill on the slick ice.

Max and I were out running errands today when I got a case of "the shakes", and needed to get some lunch fast.  Max's choice was McDonald's (surprise surprise...not).  :-)

February 6, 2011

This was such a RARE sight that I had to make this my picture of the day.  Max fell asleep (rarity #1), while leaning on Claire (rarity #2).  I knew something was different when things became quiet (rarity #3).  These two are usually the ones who are always loud, always fighting/arguing, so this sight was a sweet blessing.

We finally had temps above the single digits, so the kids were able to play outside a long time today.  The snow began melting a little also which made it easier to mold.  After sledding down our driveway for some time, the kids took a break to build a snowman.  This was the end result...they built this guy all on their own!

Happy Chinese New Year!  Since we had icy roads, it was too dangerous to go out for Chinese so we 'celebrated' at home.  I didn't have the ingredients on hand for a big Chinese meal, so we just had dumplings and egg rolls.  Simple but tasty.

What's a person to do when they have lots of snow?  Make snow ice cream of course!  Actually, this was the first time our kids have made snow ice cream, and they really enjoyed it.  (Max isn't really as tall as he looks...he was standing on a stool.)

February 2, 2011

The kids and I ventured out to play in the snow a little while today.  Little while...meaning about 15 minutes!  It was SO cold that's all we could stand.  I think Claire and Max had a good time though! lol  I told the kids they had to come in because I didn't want them to get frost bite.  When we got inside, Max said, "Mommy, I have criss-cross bite on my arms."  Too funny!

February 1, 2011

This was the view from our front door today.  Lots and lots of snow!  I think we ended up with about 6" of snow by the time it stopped.

Our weather prediction for today and tomorrow.  I don't think I've ever seen the word "blizzard" on the weather forecast for this area.

January 30, 2011

One of the little things I want to remember....Max and the way he lines up his toys.  ;-)

January 29, 2011

I've been cutting Randy's hair since...well, so long that I can't remember when I started!  :-)  When Max came home, he didn't have much hair, so it was a long time before he needed a cut.  We took Max for a "professional" haircut ONE time; their cut looked the same as what I do, so I've done the rest.

January 28, 2011

A typical morning for us as the older two catch the bus around 7:30.  They are the first ones on in the morning, and first off in the afternoon.

Max is learning to write his name.  This morning he ran up to me, wanting to show his "M".  He was SO proud!
